Oahu based artist, Ka'imi Hanano'eau will be performing live at Hula Grill on March 1st and 3nd from 6-9pm
Raised on the island of Maui, Ka`imi set high goals for himself from a young age. He taught himself how to play the ukulele at age five, and by age 14, performed and worked in production of a local lu`au company. He later relocated to O`ahu and attended college at Brigham Young University Hawaii in La`ie where he graduated with a B.A. in Music (Major) and Hawaiian Studies (Minor) furthering his knowledge with music theory and live sound engineering. He also trained in the Bel Canto vocal style with renowned teacher, Neva Rego.
Ka`imi has taken everything he’s learned both on and off stage, and has begun building a solid foundation for a long career in the music industry. Known primarily for his “island rock reggae’ style, he’s a versatile talent who can perform a wide range of material from jazz to Hawaiian to contemporary. Case in point, his recent ukulele focused EP, “Ukulele What?” earned him a nomination in the 2016 Nā Hōkū Hanohano awards.
